Great cinema. Our stories. The feelings that bring us together.
There are moments when the lights go down, the conversations fade, and the screen opens a whole world in front of us. Those moments are why we come to the cinema.
Polish Film Festival North America invites you to another celebration of Polish film. This year we meet in Chicago, Miami, New York, New Jersey, Long Island and Connecticut.
The festival opens with „Lalka”, directed by Maciej Kawalski — a new adaptation of Bolesław Prus’s masterpiece. Marcin Dorociński as Wokulski, Kamila Urzędowska as Izabela Łęcka and Marek Kondrat as Ignacy Rzecki take us to Warsaw at the close of the 19th century: a world of great passion, ambition and dreams that come at a price. The story of Wokulski and Izabela speaks again from the big screen.
What lies ahead is an encounter with Polish cinema and with everything it is able to preserve: our language, our memory, our sensibility. It is also a chance to share Polish culture with friends and with new generations of audiences in America.
We invite everyone for whom a film is the beginning of a conversation, a moment of emotion, a discovery. Let’s experience it together.
