A biographical drama about Gajka and Jacek Kuroń — a marriage at the very centre of Poland’s fight for freedom in the 1980s.
Warsaw, the 1980s. Jacek Kuroń and his wife Grażyna, known to everyone as Gajka, are at the heart of the democratic opposition. Their flat becomes a newsroom, a meeting place and a shelter, and their private life all but disappears into the cause they serve.
The film follows a marriage tested by surveillance, separation and imprisonment, and by the shock of martial law. It is a story of love that proves stronger than fear, and of the price paid by people who chose to stand up.
