“The Dog Who Rode the Train” is the story of a loyal dog named Lampo, which inspired Roman Pisarski’s book and was adapted into a film in 2023. Lampo was a real dog, a mutt living in Italy in the 1950s, known for his extraordinary train journeys.
Zuzia, the daughter of a railway worker, befriends Lampo – a one-of-a-kind sheepdog who travels on trains all by himself. Though Lampo becomes an internet sensation, he irritates the station manager, who, out of jealousy, wants to get rid of him. When Zuzia is separated from her four-legged companion, her health begins to seriously decline.
This modern adaptation of Roman Pisarski’s short story – a cornerstone of classic Polish children’s literature – is a funny and touching film by Magdalena Nieć, and it became a major box-office hit.
