“Siła oporu” – A Test of Loyalty in the Shadow of Oppression
Set in 1984 Warsaw, Siła oporu follows Olga, a theater actress and Solidarity activist, who faces an agonizing choice: betray a friend to the communist authorities to save her father’s life, or uphold her principles and risk his death. Directed by Elżbieta Benkowska, this short film delves into themes of political idealism, personal sacrifice, and the moral dilemmas faced under authoritarian regimes. With a narrative that echoes the moral quandaries of Andrzej Wajda’s Man of Marble, Siła oporu poses the question: can one individual’s resistance make a difference in the face of overwhelming power?
