Not everything in the 2026 programme is heavy. „Jak żyć, żeby nie zwariować” is a comedy, and it arrives in Polish cinemas on 23 October — two weeks before our festival opens.
Anka has the life people are supposed to want: a loving husband, children who are doing well, a job she enjoys, a good flat in the centre of town. Then it all goes, more or less at once. The marriage collapses, the job disappears, the children become a puzzle she can no longer solve, and a bailiff takes an interest in the flat.
What follows is the part that makes it a comedy rather than a catalogue of disasters: Anka decides to rebuild on her own terms, armed mostly with nerve and a sense of humour she did not know she had.
Magdalena Popławska leads, with Piotr Rogucki, Barbara Wypych, Piotr Trojan and Kamil Szeptycki. Directed by Tomasz Konecki and Iwona Ogonowska-Konecka, from a screenplay by Karolina Szymczyk-Majchrzak.
A note for anyone keeping score: Magdalena Popławska appears twice in this year’s programme — here, and as Gajka Kuroń in „Nasza rewolucja”. Two films could hardly be further apart.
